Nutrition Support for Gastrointestinal Health

With chronic gut discomfort, it’s hard to be present, pay attention, be athletic, be in a good mood, be a good parent, and be a good partner.

Dr. Margo Gasta - IBS Dietitian. Advanced Integrative Functional Medicine Nutritionist & Dietitian Boulder CO for optimum health. I help with chronic health issues, specializing in nutrition for chronic pain, chronic fatigue, autoimmune disease,…

How I Work With Gastrointestinal Issues

I use a functional nutrition approach as your gut health nutritionist to help you find solutions for your gut discomfort and digestive issues. We will start with testing and then incorporate healing diets and supplements during our nutrition services. The goal is to get you feeling mostly back to normal and back to eating as many healthy whole foods as possible. I strive to help you avoid a lifetime of overly restricted diets and decrease the effects of malabsorption on your gut microbiome and body. I coordinate care and testing with your gastroenterologist to help you find a long-term sustainable solution to food freedom.

I have completed much additional advanced training in working with complex gastrointestinal (GI) conditions.

Gastrointestinal Conditions I Work With:

  • GERD/Reflux (heartburn)

  • Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth SIBO

  • Histamine Intolerance

  • Diverticulosis

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD such as Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis)

  • Liver/gallbladder issues

  • Ulcers

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

  • Chronic constipation

  • Diarrhea/Nausea/Vomiting

  • Gas/Bloating/Distention/Excessive burping

  • Other GI issues that doctors haven’t been able to categorize into a diagnosis, but involve severe discomfort, nonetheless.

  • Celiac disease and food intolerances

We will take appropriate measures to:

  • Rebalance your gut microbiome and correct infection or dysbiosis (Some infections will require your doctor to prescribe medications; others can respond to herbs and probiotics).

  • Restore functional motility without having to resort to harmful products that are not safe for long-term use.

  • Heal the intestinal lining, improve the production of healthy mucus for a healthy mucus membrane, and lower inflammation for long-term gut health.

  • Identify delayed food sensitivities that may cause distress for up to 4 days.

  • Provide soothing products to immediately help your most distressing digestive health symptoms.

It can take 6-12 months to heal the GI tract. The diagnosis of SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) can take up to two years. SIBO and histamine intolerance often occur together and need more nutrition intervention. Certain GI conditions require a lifetime of management; however, you can achieve incredible relief from symptoms and experience a greatly improved quality of life with a gut health nutritionist.
